MICROSOFT DYNAMICS NAV SOLUTION
We knew that we were choosing a flexible solution that could be customised to meet any of our unique industry requirements. We quickly realised what Tectura means by global reach, local touch. The implementers were hands on, and we felt as though we were dealing with a small company like ourselves, though they had the world of Tectura behind them.
Tectura's team of ERP experts modified Microsoft Dynamics NAV in several ways to better meet Arla Foods specific requirements. For example, they made sure that the subsidiary could easily trace all of its items by lot number. To meet Arla Foods’ rigid quality control requirements, Tectura developed what is known as an “aging hold” in the cheese business. Using Microsoft Dynamics NAV employees can place flags on a product, warning others that the cheese cannot be sold yet because it is still aging, has not yet been cleared by the laboratory, or is in some way defective—possibly it weighs too much or is incorrectly labeled.
ERP BENEFITS
As part of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV implementation a new scanner system was developed that consists of handheld RF scanners, color touch screens, and graphical representations of information. In addition, it is a Web-based solution built on the Windows CE operating system. With these new features, we now have a totally paperless warehouse. Even the smallest adjustment is done with a scanner.
The Canadian subsidiary also is spending less time these days generating reports for Denmark, thanks to Microsoft Dynamics NAV drill-down capabilities and easy-to-use Windows-based platform. “We’ve cut our reporting time by 80%,” Niclasen notes. “And faster access to information will likely help us make faster, better decisions.”
